Snehana therapy is Purv Karm (Pre therapeutic Procedure)which means it has to be done before Actual Shodhan chikitsa or Panch karma. Snehana therapy helps in loosening toxins in our body which are stuck in body systems which causes ailments or disease. SNEHANA is Use of Medicated oil / Ghrita Internally or externally.


1) ABHYANTAR SHEHA PAAN – In this medicated Ghee / clarified butter is given to drink empty stomach at morning in specific quantity for lubrication of digestive tract before certain Panchkarma shodhan chikitsa like Vaman and Virechan.

Benefits: It lubricates the digestive tract and helps to accumulate all Precipitated ( Utkleshit )Dosha in koshta so that it can easily get excreted during Vaman or Virechan.

2) BAHYA SNEHAN  – This is external application and Massage with Medicated oil or Ghee to Whole Body or Affected area in classical way.

Benefits: Bahya Snehana, or external oleation, offers numerous benefits. It enhances blood circulation, alleviates Vaat dosha, and aids in expelling precipitated doshas from the digestive tract post-Abhyantar Snehapaan, preparing the body for procedures like Vaman and Virechan.

What is Panchakarma?

Six procedures are included in this


Body toxins are removed by inducing vomiting. This treatment is mainly done for KaphaDosha or Diseasesof Kapha.


Toxins are removed through stool by using Laxatives and purgatives, This treatment is mainly for diseases in intestines


These are medicated enemas. This is a very important treatment in aayurvedic practice. Though it is mainly done for Vata Vikar


Bloodletting is done with the use of needles, syringe or leech to treat skin diseases, varicose veins, pitta vicar, severe pain etc.
